Who We Are
The Mizumori laboratory seeks to understand how neural circuits of the brain enable dynamic and accurate learning and memory, as well as flexible decisions that are essential for adaptive behaviors. We employ state-of-the-art neuroscience techniques that enable us to observe and then analyze how single neurons and neural circuits of the brain work together to ensure optimal learning, efficient memory recall, and flexible decision making as we navigate our world.
Our hope is that our discoveries will better inform emerging smart technologies and the development of the most effective interventions for conditions associated with problematic memory, decision , and/or behavioral control.
In addition to seeking answers to critical research questions, we seek to maximize the impact of our discoveries by bringing the latest scientific revelations about memory and decision science to the public.
Further, Dr. Mizumori is co-founder of the BRAINS team that aims to broaden representation in neuroscience nationally via an NINDS funded professional development program that facilitates the career advancement of early-stage neuroscience scholars from historically marginalized groups.
