Lateral Habenula and Hippocampus During Different Tests of Response Flexibility

The medial prefrontal cortex and hippocampus are two of the brain areas involved in the limbic memory circuit. Previous studies have shown that the lateral habenula plays a role in memory tasks that involve changing task conditions. Is the lateral habenula a part of the limbic memory circuit? In this paper, we introduce 3 new inactivation experiments that support the hypothesis that the lateral habenula is important for flexible and adaptive responding in a spatial working memory task.
